Journalism and news media have been going through a continuous transformation since the Internet came about. The business model is changing, and so are the outlet platforms. Maybe the most evident change is the transition from paper to screens. But a lot is also going on with the journalistic routine itself: the way of reporting, producing and publishing stories is changing. This project will explore the material dimension of this transformation through time from three main axes: reporting tools; news production practices; and news outlets.
I think the format that would best suit this project is a timeline –or maybe three of them. I’m planning to work with Dipity, a free web-based tool for creating timelines, and a WordPress customized template in which the timelines would be embedded.
